Aims and Objective:

The aim of Philosophy, which is a theoretical endeavour and which has practical utility, is to explain the nature, meaning and reality of life. It has been considered the mother of all branches of knowledge. The nature of philosophy has been such that no answer is without questions. It attempts to understand and explain the basic principles and past feeling which have been accepted by all branches of knowledge.

Program Outcomes (POs)

Upon completion of the undergraduate honours degree program in Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, students will be able to:

  • POs1: To encourage Arts Graduates to develop global-minded, creative, imaginative, and leadership qualities.
  • POs2: To develop understanding of fundamental problems related to values, reason, mind, language, and knowledge.
  • POs3: To articulate opinions in multi- and interdisciplinary fields.
  • POs4: To develop an understanding of the meanings, core concepts, and principles of different philosophers' theories, as well as strategies for comparing and contrasting them.
  • POs5: To develop the ability to think critically, logically, and analytically; to analyze arguments and apply principles of logic to problem-solving.
  • POs6: To demonstrate awareness of ethical values, moral reasoning, and their application to contemporary personal, social, and professional contexts.
